Choosing Earth Over Convenience 🌎

Sanctuary Dispatch | Tuesday Reflections from the Wild Path

The Soft Rebellion

We’ve been raised in a world that treats the Earth like a resource to be used, not a being to be loved. 💔

Taught to consume, discard, and repeat—rarely pausing to witness the trail we leave behind.

But the Earth is not a backdrop.

She is a living, breathing, aching body—and she remembers every choice we make.

Every plastic bottle tossed,

Every single-use convenience unwrapped,

Every synthetic fragrance sprayed into her air,

Every “eco-friendly” purchase that ends up buried in her soil because it couldn’t be truly recycled.

We’ve been told it’s okay—that recycling will save us, that biodegradable means harmless, that someone, somewhere, is sorting it all out.

But only a small portion of plastics in the U.S. were actually recycled in recent years.

The rest?

Shipped overseas, incinerated, buried, or left to linger for centuries.

And still, the shelves overflow with shiny new solutions that only deepen the wound.

This isn’t about guilt.

It’s about awareness.

And remembering that you are powerful enough to choose differently.

The Soft Rebellion begins in our homes.

Small acts. Soulful shifts.

Not because we’re perfect—but because we care.

Here are some eco-friendly alternatives for your everyday products you might want to consider:

  • Bamboo toilet paper. Grows fast, uses less water, and doesn’t require clear-cutting forests. (We use it and we love it! Highly recommend.)

  • Powdered laundry detergent. Choose formulas in cardboard boxes or refillable containers—no plastic jugs, no sneaky polymers.

  • Natural sponges & dish brushes made from coconut husk, apricot kernels, wood, or plant fibers.

  • Cloth napkins, unpaper towels, and reusable cotton rounds. Simple swaps with a big impact over time.

  • Beeswax food wraps instead of cling wrap, and glass jars or silicone bags instead of plastic containers.

  • Bar soaps, shampoo bars, and conditioner bars—less packaging, longer-lasting, and often with cleaner ingredients.

  • Refillable cleaning concentrates or DIY blends made with vinegar, citrus peels, and herbs.

  • Ditch the disposables—plates, cutlery, and cups. Choose reusables, even for gatherings. There’s magic in washing what you use (Raven + Dove Apothecary makes a delightful Dish Washing Elixir made with moon water!).

  • Eat more whole foods - Less processing, less packaging, fewer manufactured ingredients.

  • Glass or stainless steel straws - (They actually make your drinks taste better—and they look cute, too.)

  • Reusable totes - Keep them in your car, purse, or by the door. Bonus points for cute designs.

  • Composting - Instead of tossing food scraps in the trash, give them back to the Earth and close the loop.

And most importantly:

Buy less.

The most sustainable item is the one you didn’t buy at all.

Let your home become a sanctuary not just for your soul, but for the Earth’s as well.

Not out of obligation—but out of reverence.

A love letter written through your everyday choices.

Mother Earth isn’t asking for perfection.

She’s asking for partnership.

And I’ll be honest—when I walk through my house and see all the Earth-friendly swaps I’ve made… it feels really good in my heart space.

Like the quiet joy of keeping a promise to someone you love.

These choices, small as they seem, are my way of saying: I see you, I feel you, and I care.

Tuesday Reflections from the Wild Path | A soft rebellion for the soul

This is where spirit meets resistance.

Each Tuesday, I share a dispatch from the edge of the old world—where systems are crumbling and something truer is rising.

These pieces weave together politics, power, and personal truth from a deeply human, heart-centered lens.

They are an offering of clarity in chaos. A reclamation of voice. A reminder that awakening is both inner and outer work.
